Shara to represent SVG in Jaycees pageant

The Carnival Development Corporation, through its Beauty Shows Committee, is pleased to report that Miss Shara George, Miss SVG 2013 and 2nd runner-up in Miss Carival 2013, will leave the state on Monday, July 29, 2013 to represent St Vincent and the Grenadines in the 52nd Annual Jaycees Queen Show in Antigua and Barbuda.{{more}} She will be accompanied by her chaperone Miss Kimon Baptiste, Miss SVG 1999.

The pageant will be held under the theme” EMPOWERING WOMEN THROUGH PAGEANTRY.” The show, which is an important aspect of Antigua and Barbuda’s Carnival celebrations, will be held in two phases: a pre-show on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the Dean William Lake Cultural Centre and the main show on Friday, August 2, 2013 at Carnival City, St John’s.

There will be an elimination process. The top 10 contestants will be selected from the pre-show, where judging will take place in interview, swimwear and evening wear. There will be further eliminations during the main show, which will include all four categories of talent, swimwear, evening wear and interview. The winner, first runner-up and second runner-up will be announced on the night of Friday, August 2, 2013.

Contestants will be judged in: interview 60 points, swimwear 50 points, talent 50 points and evening wear 40 points.

The interview segment will be under the tag line “BREAKING THE SILENCE,” in support of Child Abuse Awareness. The PKB Bank Ltd is offering a cash award of EC $1,000 to the winner in the interview segment.

Shara and Kimon are expected to return to the state on Saturday, August 3, 2013.
