‘Sunrise’ set for Carnival Friday – July 5th

For the past ten years, carnival revellers have craving for a fete to attend on the night dubbed Carnival Friday, July 5.{{more}}

This year, the crave will be no more, as Island Network Inc, in collaboration with Stickman Entertainment, will be hosting an event dubbed “Sunrise.”

The event takes place at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex, starting at 11 p.m. and runs until sunrise, hence the name.

“We are hoping to bring what we deem as the biggest fete for Carnival this year to you folks, as we have a strong and exciting cast of artistes, both locally and regionally,” said Heric Horne, manager of Island Network Inc, while addressing a press conference on Wednesday.

The cast features Skinny Fabulous, Fireman Hooper, Luta, Danielle Veira, Shaunelle McKenzie, Hance John, Problem Child and Fire Empress from the local leg.

The regional acts include the reigning soca monarch from Trinidad, Super Blue, Blaxx and the Mr Fete man Benji with the backing band, Roy Cape All Stars.

“There’s the concept side of the event that features fog, foam and powder. This is an experience that Vincentians will have to come out and experience,” Horne added.

Meanwhile, chief executive officer of the Carnival Development Corporation Ashford Wood said they are pleased to have endorsed the event.

“CDC in the past would have been very careful about sanctioning events that will come into conflict with our shows, but we have developed an excellent working relationship with Heric and his Island Network Inc. And we felt confident that he will be able to work with us, so that following the Steel and Glitter show, you will have another big fete to attend.

“…I know that Vincentians will enjoy it and I am really appealing to all of us Vincentians to support it.” (AA)
