Digicel Nelson Bloc presents “Dat is SOS”

As the Digicel Nelson Bloc prepares their presentation for Carnival 2K12, the mas band says it is facing some challenges from former members who are allegedly misleading persons wishing to register to play mas.{{more}}

Public Relations Officer (PRO) Sean Brewster told SEARCHLIGHT on Wednesday that a few members left Nelson Bloc to join another mas band and are telling persons that they are still with Nelson Bloc and they should register with them.

“According to reports that have come to me … persons were told by the former members that where they are now based, is Nelson Bloc.

“That is not true,” Brewster said.

He further indicated that persons who are accustomed playing with Digicel Nelson Bloc and are seeking to register again this year were also informed by the former members that Alvern Cadogan, Nelson Bloc band leader, is also a part of the other band.

That too is not true, according to Brewster.

“So, persons need to be aware of the situation,” he added.

Brewster also informed that what is going on has had a negative impact on the band, because persons have registered with the other mas band, thinking it was Digicel Nelson Block.

The PRO is advising persons wishing to register with the Digicel Nelson Bloc Mas band that they can do so by visiting the band site located behind Quality Paints on the Reclamation Site or with Michelle Veira, located between Building and Loan and the Chinatown store.

However, despite the situation, Brewster said preparations for this year’s presentation “Dat is SOS” are progressing smoothly.

This year’s mas presentation, according to the PRO, will portray sections of legendary soca artiste Winston Soso.(AA)
