Network SVG was initiated in February last year by brother and sister, Collin Balcombe Peters and Stacy Balcombe Peters, the band Manager.

In an exclusive interview with SEARCHLIGHT, Stacy explained that the idea of the band came about because she and some of her friends do not participate in the Carnival Monday activities because, “it’s not like it use to be before.”

She further explained that she and her brother set about consulting with other persons for their expertise and feedback about whether it would be a wise choice to initiate the idea.

“The feedback was very positive and we just decided and said let’s try it.”

Bacchanal Fever was the theme for last year’s launch and according to Stacy, the response was overwhelming.

She explained that they had initially printed five hundred t-shits, but had to print two hundred more because of the response by Carnival revelers.

“Persons that never played Monday Jam took a risk and played with us last year. And a lot of young people came out and supported, normally which not the case when it comes to the Monday evening,” she said.

Following a successful first year, Network SVG is back for the second year and the Band leader promises nothing but clean fun and entertainment to the fullest.

She however admitted that it has been a bit difficult meeting the high standards set last year but nevertheless; they are on the path to delivering another exciting Carnival Monday Jam.

This year, Stacy says they are focused on correcting some of the errors that were made last year. For instance the number of t-shirts printed, what is included in the package and how the drinks will be distributed.

“This year, what most carnival revelers can expect is a package with a price that is just right due to the economic down turn.

“You’re gonna have great fun. The Dj’s are all locked and you’re gonna get an additional snack thanks to Premier Distributors. So you are going to have your carnival snack plus your drinks…

The package deal for the all inclusive Carnival Monday jam includes, t-shirt, Mardi Gras Mask, Watch, UV Glow Sticks, Rum and Coke, Rumsicles, Steel Bottom, Carib Beer and other cool stuff at the price of EC$30.

Some of the artistes performing on the truck on Carnival Monday include, Kevin Little, Troots and Ice, Fresh Kydd, Tamisha, Recka, Colombian, Wizskid, Royal, G Wise.

“This year should be really good. People would definitely see something different,” Stacy said.

She also informed that come Monday, July 9, the streets of Kingstown will be transformed into the colors, Pink, Purple and Blue as these will be the t-shit colors revelers will be jamming in.(AA)
