SVG Gospel Fest 2011 climaxes this weekend

SVG Gospel Fest 2011 will officially climax this weekend with two nights of National Gospel Showcases at the Victoria Park on Saturday and Sunday, beginning at 6.00 pm.{{more}}

The showcases will feature the best of St. Vincent and the Grenadines from the various zonal preliminaries held around the country during the month and will see presentations in music, song, dance and drama.

Scheduled to appear will be the outstanding artistes from the various zones including: KLT Dancers from Marriaqua, Janielle Alexander of Mayreau, Methodist Dramatists and God’s Warriors of Kingstown, Miracle dancers and the KLM Choir of South Leeward, Jewel Cordice, Super Kidz Chorale and the Excelcia Dancers of North Windward.

The performances from local artistes will be complemented by international gospel artistes Nicole Ballosingh of Trinidad and Vincentian-born Anthony ‘Papa Das’ Glasgow, now residing in the Virgin Islands. Nicole Ballosingh, who is popularly known for her big hits “Praise Space” and “Daddy Oh” is asking Vincentians to ‘walk with their dancing shoes and garments of praise for an evening of powerful worship’, while Papa Das who is looking forward to performing in front of his many local fans says for persons attending the shows: “It will be a night to remember”. Pastor Stephen Ollivierre of the Kingdom Life Tabernacle in Mesopotamia will also deliver special messages for the nation.

Minister of Culture Frederick Stephenson and chairman of the Gospel Fest Committee Fidel Taylor will give official addresses along with the major sponsors.

SVG Gospel Fest, now into its ninth year, is being celebrated under the theme: “Declaring the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory of God”. Given the growing popularity of the festival, the committee is expecting a large turn out at the Victoria Park.
