Nikeisha Saunders is Miss Aftershock

On Saturday July 24, the Lick N Split Fast Food Outlet was transformed into an atmosphere {{more}} of celebration and excitement as friends, family and well wishers of Nikeisha Saunders of Sion Hill came out to show their support and appreciation for the determined outgoing young lady.

Saunders, who was sponsored by the Lick N Split Fast Food Outlet, was crowned Miss Stubbs Carnival After Shock 2010 on Saturday, July 17 at the St Clair Deacon Secondary School. She emerged victorious from a field of five contestants and walked away with the awards for best two piece swim wear, best custom-made swim wear, best evening wear and best interview.

“I felt overjoyed and proud of myself”. This was Nikeisha’s response when asked how she felt after being crowned.

She described the weeks leading up to the event as “very hectic” having to travel from Sion Hill to Diamond along with the long hours of practising. “Hard work really pays off” she said with a smile.

“I had a good relationship with most of the contestants despite the fact that I was from Sion Hill and they were from the environment of Diamond and Stubbs,” she added as she recalled being filled in by the other contestants about things she missed when she couldn’t attend practice.

Saunders expressed heartfelt thanks to her sponsors, her sister, Pam, her mom, friends, Ronique Dellimore, Sherry Edwards and Shevorne Smith.

Proprietors of the Lick N Spit Fast Food Outlet Dwane and Adonna Allen said that they are very proud.

“I think we made a really good choice in selecting the candidate to represent us and she did her best. She worked very hard and was determined to come out on top,” said Adonna Thomas-Allen.

Dwane Allen also echoed his admiration of Nikesha’s determination and self confidence, a quality he said which is “lacking in a lot of youth today”.

He also extended an invitation to the public to visit the restaurant.

“I would also like to use this opportunity to extend an open invitation to the entire Vincentian society to visit our establishment. We are located in the Thomas building in Arnos Vale, opposite Dekies Auto Zone. We serve a variety of hot lunches daily and BBQ Spareribs, Chicken and Grilled Fish on Fridays and Saturdays. Our standard menu comprises Beef Burgers, wings and fries, fish and fries, shark and fries and a wide variety of beverages. Drink specials all weekend on most beers, stouts and premium liquor.
