Mama Culture to be honoured at Miss East St George Queen Show
Minister of Culture, René Baptiste, will be honoured this evening, June 11, at the Miss East St George Queen Show at the Calliaqua hard court.{{more}}
Baptiste will be presented with a plaque by the East St George Carnival committee for her unrelenting support to East St George Carnival over the years.
The queen show will see six young women vying for the title of Miss East St George.
Vanessa Thomas, appearing as Miss Fairhall, is sponsored by National Properties Ltd. Sheridan Haynes, Miss Calliaqua, is sponsored by Howard Marine Ltd and Ali Garage.
Franco Construction Ltd is represented by Romesha Duke who appears as Miss Choppins, while Cizanne Todd, Miss Diamond, is sponsored by K Electric Co Ltd. Peaches Harry, Miss Belmont, is sponsored by Sprott Distributors Ltd. Kimberly Benn, Miss Glen, is sponsored by the Calliaqua Area Development Organization (CADO).
The young women will make five appearances. The first, which will not be judged, will be an introduction in costumes by Blondie Bird and Friends. The other appearances for which they will be judged are: swimwear, talent, evening wear and interview.
This evening, the âHairoun Beer hold your ownâ Calypso and Soca Monarch competitions will also take place at the hard court. Gosnel âGCâ Cupid will defend his calypso monarch title from a field of five, while Oscar will compete against three others in the soca competition.
Guest Artistes in this eveningâs show will include the Lime Vincy Soca Dans, Maddzart and Friends Hottsands Vocalists featuring Gideon James.
Saturday, June 12, is the Lime for Living Carnival JâOurvert and Street jump up. On Sunday, June 13, the CADO Kiddies Carnival will take place.
