First up was the turn of South Leeward Carnival Organization. Last Friday, June 4, was the Queen Show which was held at the Dzia Sports Club. Thousands of persons turned out to support six beauties from the South Leeward area, with Miss Questelles, seventeen year old Soyiani Selby, taking the crown as Miss South Leeward 2010. She received a Blackberry Gemini handset from LIME, along with other prizes from other business houses. The large crowd was also entertained by several local artistes, among them were the crowd favorites Luta, with his hit songs âTight Spotâ and âThrow Bad Mindâ, and Fireman Hooper, with his hit song âTalk too muchâ and his full repertoire of recent hits.
This year LIME has added a new element to the Rural Carnivals with its promotion called âColors of LIME for Jâouvertâ. The South Leeward Carnival featured Green as their LIME colour and saw thousands of revelers jumping in the streets from Vermont to Camden Park.
The afternoon street jam brought the curtains down on the successful weekend event as thousands jammed the street from Vermont to Campden Park, passing through Clare Valley.
This weekend will see the turn of Calliaqua and South Rivers Carnivals. On Friday, June 11, both Carnivals will start off with their queen shows. The Calliaqua Area Development Organization (CADO) will have six beauties on stage vying for the coveted title of Miss CADO at the Calliaqua hard court. The winner will receive, among other gifts, a state of the art handset from LIME.
At the South Rivers Methodist School ground, thousands will turn out to support their favorite delegate. First runner up at the recent 2010 Miss SVG contest, Miss LIME Anna Ellis will take her final walk and will crown the new Miss Sorisco from among five beauties. This year, sixteen-year-old Fancy resident, Fennique Stay, will represent LIME.
Both Carnivals will culminate with their âColors of LIME Jâouvertâ and their street party on Saturday sponsored by LIME and will feature the LIME Soca Dans.
