LIME blocks Georgetown in massive street party

Thousands of revelers from Georgetown and its environs flocked the streets last Saturday to wrap up the two-day event with a massive street party. The event was sponsored for the second year by LIME, one of this country’s telecommunications companies and official telecommunications provider for Vincy Mas. ##M{more]##

LIME took the decision last year to work with rural Carnivals, and as a result several rural communities have benefited. At the very impressive LIME street party at Heritage Square one week ago, Country Manager Angus Steele remarked that LIME is spending over $300,000 this year for Vincy Mas in cash, services and in kind. “We recognize that rural Carnivals form the basis for the National Festival and more can be done in harnessing the talents in these areas so that when they enter the national stage they will be ready to perform at a higher level. The rural carnivals also provide a good build up for the national festivals and we are happy to be investing in helping these communities to harness that talent.”

The LIME Vincy Soca Dans were in attendance, and had the very large crowd dancing in a frenzy to their 2009 hits from Luta, Jamesy P and Fireman. The most popularly played songs were Fireman’s “Ragz Invasion”, Luta’s “Rumbo” and Jamesy P’s “Sugar Pan”.

LIME is also sponsoring J’Ouvert and street parties in Calliaqua on Saturday, 12th June, and Mesopotamia on Saturday, June 19th.
