âRecent shows have concentrated on having young ladies flaunt their physical assets, but this one requires them to display their intelligence on cultural affairs, as well as their knowledge about persons who have been recognized officially and unofficially as our heroes,â said Jacqueline Richards, Assistant Co-ordinator.
Richards outlined that she is optimistic that patrons will leave the show put on by Calliaqua Karaoke Groovers with a clear understanding about the contributions that our heroes made to our heritage. The show will focus on the contributions of Joseph Chatoyer, Hugh Mulzac, Ebenezer Theodore Joshua, Milton Cato and George McIntosh.
âThis is an educational journey,â Richards noted. She disclosed that the proceeds of the show will go towards financing a yearly scholarship to the winner until that young woman completes her secondary school education.
Deloris Antoine, a member of Calliaqua Karaoke Groovers, said the event will be the first of its kind in the town of Calliaqua, which will go a long way in informing Vincentians about their heritage.
âPatrons can look forward to a programme of a difference,â said Antoine.
The eveningâs entertainment package will also include performances from Shaunelle McKenzie, Rondy âLutaâ McIntosh, Potential Steel Orchestra, La Gracia Dancers, Calliaqua Government School Drummers and Foundation Sounds. (HN)
