At tomorrow’s session, the participants will compete in the creative folk and popular dance categories.

Performers are expected to show their skills in the latest hip hop and dancehall steps in popular dance, while in creative folk, dancers are expected to create routines around the folk culture, heritage and customs of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

At last Saturday’s opening night, eight groups, which included six primary schools, competed in the traditional dance, which saw the Mary Hutchinson Primary School taking gold medals in the Quadrille and Maypole dances.

The Canouan Primary School collected a gold medal for the Maypole dance and silver for Quadrille.

The Biabou Methodist, Stubbs Primary and CW Prescod Primary also collected silverware for their performances in the Maypole, while the Chateaubelair Primary took silver for the Quadrille.

In the senior category, Urban Expressions received a silver medal for their effort in the quadrille and the Renaissance dancers won a bronze medal for their maypole performance.

Next Saturday (September 27th), it will be the turn of the modern and social dance categories, with the festival coming to a close on October 4th, with the performance of all the gold medal winners. (JJ)
