This exciting competition event was Street Tuners Auto Club first Auto Show and Fun Day, organized to raise funds towards a drag racing meeting to be held in Trinidad and Tobago later this month.
The show, sponsored by Bottlers, Richardson Motors, Dekies Auto Zone, Cash Money Investments, New Montrose Hotel and JM Auto Parts, got off to a slow start at 12 noon, but within two hours the venue was crawling with auto fans. At one stage the carpark was extremely crowded and the organisers were forced to close the doors as patrons jostled to see some of the hottest cars and bikes in t. Vincent and the Grenadines. Children were not left out as they were provided with a bouncing castle and some received back to school supplies.
In the competition Shandy St. Hillaire grabbed 1st prize for Best Exterior with his Honda CRX prepared by his father Nigel and the Heavenâs Crew, while Vanrick Williams had to settle for 2nd spot. Best Interior went to Marlon Balcombe, with his spotless clean Honda Integra, and Nissan Bluebird, P1011 had to settle for 2nd. Quincy Lewis of Foreign Brands, was the winner in the Best Rims Category while a Kawasaki Ninja Bike PP569 was Best Bike. In the battle for Best Burn-Out, âSong Boyâ scorched the carpark to win in the Bike Category while Jason Mussa literally caught the place afire to claim victory with his Turbo Lancer. In the Sound Off competition Atiba Lockhart blew away the field.
Ronald Reddock, one of the organisers was clearly happy and thanked the public for their support, but noted: âWe need to get more support from the business sector and they, in turn, can use motorsports as a marketing tool. He also stated that in other countries motoring events are used to bring in much needed foreign exchange as enthusiasts come from all parts to witness these events.
Well, this was the first event for Street Tuners Auto Club, but for sure they will have to find a much larger venue for the next.
