Patrons can expect the youth to sing with gusto as they attempt to clinch the five most outstanding positions in the final of the âOvercomersâ and the âJewels for Jesusâ Childrenâs Gospel Talent Search 2008.
Donna Richards and Judith Jordan-Tucker, organizers of the programme, on Wednesday, August 13, 2008, expressed enthusiasm that this gospel extravaganza is one that cannot be missed.
They noted that even though the programme is gospel oriented it is non-denominational, and parents and other interested persons from the public can feel free to attend.
Monetary contributions, trophies and school supplies are up for grabs by the five most successful participants.
âOur goal is to orient our nationâs children into gospel music and give them something to look forward to each year. Most importantly, we are presenting Jesus Christ to the children at a tender age,â said Richards.
She added: âWe are inviting the parents and general public to come and experience a glimpse of heaven as we unite as one.â
Tucker-Jordan stated, the programme aims to build a better nation, better families and a better world.
The programme, which started in 2005 gives participants an opportunity to display their talent through the singing of gospel songs. Richard explained that it also provides an opportunity to raise funds to assist children with gifts, monetary contributions and school supplies.(HN)
