Odini wins Face of Shabeau

Odini Sutherland is the new female Face of Shabeau. Odini, along with Andrew Russell, both of Image Modelling Agency, represented St Vincent and the Grenadines at the Face of Shabeau finals held on Saturday, 19th April, at the Sherbourne Centre in Barbados.##M;[more]##

The Face of Shabeau competition is the brainchild of regional fashion publication – Shabeau magazine, one of the top two fashion publications in the Caribbean.

Odini won her place in the finals as the female winner of the St Vincent and the Grenadines bmobile Face of Shabeau competition held at the Aquatic Club on 23rd February, 2008.

Competing countries included St Vincent and the Grenadines, Guyana, St Kitts/Nevis, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, US Virgin Islands, and host country Barbados.

The show’s categories included an Introduction, modeling designer clothing in the Shabeau Fashion Showcase, patriotic Swimwear and a self-styled outfit called Personal Wear. Contestants also took part in an Interview segment with the judges and a Photoshoot. Other activities included social events and a motorcade. The shows judges included a representative of Donald Trump’s Trump Model Management, one of New York’s top modeling agencies, and a representative from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.

According to Managing Director of Image Modelling Agency, Monique Arthur-Tash, Odini has been with the Agency for more than 5 years and she feels that exposure gained in shows like Fashion Caribbean and travelling with Image to regional shows, along with Odini’s passion for all things fashion, have been the keys to her success. “We have worked with Odini in Image over the years and watched her blossom into a confident model and also a budding fashion designer. She is very level headed and puts her all into what she does. She has all the classic raw materials of a good model, such as height and a unique look, but she also uses her brain, her years of experience and her creativity to keep a cool head and give her an extra edge. Experience matters.”

The winners of Face of Shabeau will be ambassadors for the magazine and, most importantly, grace the magazine’s cover. The winners will also participate in the region’s top fashion shows under the auspices of Shabeau magazine. By gracing the cover of Shabeau Odini becomes the first Vincentian model to be featured on the cover of a top regional fashion publication.

Image Modelling Agency was awarded the Best Local Competition Award for its production of the local leg of Face of Shabeau.
