The programme, which is into its third year, brought together gospel dance groups from various religious groupings and denominations, including the Methodist Church, Apostolic Faith, New Testament, Pentecostal Assemblies, Wesleyan Holiness, The Salvation Army, Spiritual Baptists and Streams of Power churches.

Over 21 groups from the seven Gospel Fest zones appeared, including Diadem Dancers, David’s Descendants, KLT Dancers, The Salvation Army Dancers, Tehilla Dancers, Shadalight, Young Soldiers, Youth With A Purpose, Shekinah Dancers, Chrystallites Dancers, Kara, Elohim Dancers, Shalom Dancers, Divine Dancers, New Life Dancers, Revival Centre Dancers, GTT Dancers, KMYF Dancers and the Sion Hill Mission Dancers. Performances were done in solo, duet and group, to a high standard.

On the first evening of the showcase, Chairman Fidel Taylor, in his remarks, indicated that the showcase was part of efforts by the Gospel Fest Committee to provide maximum exposure for gospel artistes, as well as organizing regular gospel entertainment.

Four dance officers from the Department of Culture were also present on each night, as part of the Department’s efforts to assess the various strengths and weaknesses of the groups and provide training programs accordingly.

Since the inception of SVG Gospel Fest in 2003, gospel dancing has been growing by leaps and bounds, with close to 45 groups taking part in the 2007. Before that, dancing would have been considered out of order in churches.

The showcase was held under the theme: “Praise Him in the Dance”.
