Rhythmix are new Panorama champs

Although there were only three competing sides in the Panorama finals, the competition was as keenly contested as any other that took place during the carnival period.{{more}}

At the end of it all, it was Digicel Rhythmix Steel Orchestra who came out on top, emerging as the 2007 Panorama champs.

The 41 man, 34 pan strong side, won the nod of the judges with their rendition of Touch’s ‘Jumping Up Like Kangaroo’ which was arranged by band leader Jomoro Francis.

Rhythmix took the title over the National Lotteries Sion Hill Euphonium, with the Elite Steel Orchestra (below) placing third.

Despite the small number of bands taking part, the level of competition was very keen, and the competing sides seemed not only concerned about points, but also about enjoying themselves.

The panorama finals was part of last Sunday’s Dimanche Gras, which saw the crowning of a new calypso monarch, and the judging of the King and Queen of the bands. (JJ)
