Glasgow, Lockhart reign over bands

In a costume which featured special effects and the ability to move easily across the stage, Atiba Lockhart, portraying Tribute to Athneal – the Whalerman presented by Guinness Blondie Bird and Friends was crowned king of the bands, following his appearance at Sunday’s Dimanche Gras Competition at Victoria Park.{{more}}

The costume, part of the band’s 2007 presentation ‘Paradise of the Grenadines’ gained 400 points, outscoring some other splendid costumes, and beat KFC SVG Players International by two points into second place.

Players’ presentation, a portrayal of Tsunami – King Neptune’s Wrath, was paraded by Kevin Dickson.

Placing third was Andrew Sutherland, whose portrayal of ‘The Messenger’, gained 393 points for the Heineken Dragons mas band with their presentation ‘From Shackles to Emancipation’.



Queen of the bands went to Jennilee Glasgow with her KFC SVG Players International’s portrayal of Beautiful. Glasgow’s costume was sponsored by CGM Brokers.

Glasgow totaled 420 points, beating Monica O’Garro with her Carib Wizards’ portrayal of Moonlight Dream into second place with 403 points.

Third in that competition was Semone Richards with her portrayal of Kick ‘em Jenny for Guinness Blondie Bird and friends with 397 points. (JJ)
