Glasgow, Lockhart reign over bands
In a costume which featured special effects and the ability to move easily across the stage, Atiba Lockhart, portraying Tribute to Athneal – the Whalerman presented by Guinness Blondie Bird and Friends was crowned king of the bands, following his appearance at Sundayâs Dimanche Gras Competition at Victoria Park.{{more}}
The costume, part of the bandâs 2007 presentation âParadise of the Grenadinesâ gained 400 points, outscoring some other splendid costumes, and beat KFC SVG Players International by two points into second place.
Playersâ presentation, a portrayal of Tsunami – King Neptuneâs Wrath, was paraded by Kevin Dickson.
Placing third was Andrew Sutherland, whose portrayal of âThe Messengerâ, gained 393 points for the Heineken Dragons mas band with their presentation âFrom Shackles to Emancipationâ.
Queen of the bands went to Jennilee Glasgow with her KFC SVG Players Internationalâs portrayal of Beautiful. Glasgowâs costume was sponsored by CGM Brokers.
Glasgow totaled 420 points, beating Monica OâGarro with her Carib Wizardsâ portrayal of Moonlight Dream into second place with 403 points.
Third in that competition was Semone Richards with her portrayal of Kick âem Jenny for Guinness Blondie Bird and friends with 397 points. (JJ)
