While awaiting the announcement of the results, a dispute arose between two individuals inside the hall which caused the police to order that after the crowing of the queen, the dance should be put off. This caused disappointment in persons who were gearing up to party after the show.

The show, which took place at the Penniston Community Centre saw four girls vying for the title of Miss South Leeward 2007 from four different villages.

Taking the stage for the second year in a row, Miss Penniston Stacy Collis, who was sponsored by the SVG Broadcasting Corporation walked away with the crown and a free costume.

Stacey, who competed last year in the 2006 Miss South Leeward pageant which was organized by the same group, won the best evening wear and best talent categories while Miss Square Deal Shippers Latish Williams who represented Cane Grove won the best swim wear and the first runner up award.

The other two competitors were Miss Dubois Kellon Grant who was sponsored by Aunt Jobes Supermarket and Miss Clare Valley Shera Culzac sponsored by PESCO. She also won the best Evening Wear.

This year only two positions were awarded. The show was held in conjunction with the Carnival Development Corporation and the St. Vincent Brewery Ltd under the theme Revitalizing Culture… A rural phenomenon. (SB)
