Bequia carnival concludes with massive jam

Carnival celebrations on the tiny island of Bequia climaxed last weekend on a fantastic note.

Patrons at the Miss Bequia pageant witnessed four well prepared young ladies put on a magnificent show, but it was the outstanding Tamisha Nichols of Friendship Bay who edged out the three other beauties to snatch the crown.{{more}}

The energetic Nichols took the crowd by storm as she performed her very own composition for 2007 Vincy Mas dubbed “I like the Way.” The original composition earned her best talent but Nichols also captured the best swimwear and evening gown categories.

The three other contestants were Miss Paget Farm Valista Ragguette, Miss Mt Pleasant Lunna Gooding and Miss Cemetry Hill Cherry-Ann Gordon.

On the calypso scene, “Man Tah-Way” stole the royal title as ex-tempo king with his catchy renditions, while “Specks-Man” and “Music-Man” were the runner ups.

The Bequia carnival celebrations climaxed with colourful J’Ouvert and a massive road jam on Monday, June 25.
