Canadian/Vincy Steel Pan Orchestra to perform in St. Vincent

“Gems and Friends” Steel Pan Orchestra from Toronto, Canada will be visiting St. Vincent from the 3rd-24th July, 2007.

The Group is made up of fifteen women whose birthplace is St. Vincent and the Grenadines, assisted by four males, and is managed by Monica Sandy-Wolkowski. The Musical{{more}} Director is Elton Jones.

“Gems and Friends” will be staging a series of cultural performances including Quadrille and Maypole dancing from Friday, 13th July-Sunday, 22nd July, 2007.

This will include two major concerts, one taking place at Government House on Friday, 13th July, and the other being held at the St. George’s Cathedral on Sunday, 15th July, 2007.

Guest artistes from North America traveling along with the group will comprise Syl McIntosh on saxophone, Vin Cato on pan and violin and Erlene Williams-King will thrill audiences with her vocal renditions.

The Group will also perform at SVG National Trust and the Girls High School. Proceeds from these concerts will be shared among six local Organisations in St. Vincent: The National Society of Persons with Disabilities, The Children’s Welfare Fund, The House of Hope Society, The School for Children with Special Needs, The Girls High School Sick Bay Project, The St. Vincent and the Grenadines National Trust.

All music lovers are invited to come out and support the Week of cultural performances.
