March 9th 1997. Christopher Wallace exits the Peterson Automotive Museum after the party he was attending is shut down by Los Angeles police for being over crowded.

At 12:30 am he entered a GMC Suburban SUV with a number of his colleagues to head back to his hotel. 50 yards from the museum the entourage of three vehicles stopped at a red light, while there a black Chevrolet Impala pulled up beside Wallace’s truck, the driver of the Impala rolled down his window drew a 9mm blue steel and shot numerous rounds into the GMC Suburban; four bullets hit Wallace in the chest. He was rushed to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by his entourage but was pronounced dead at 1:15am.{{more}}

The Notorious B.I.G was no more.

Ten years later and the legacy of the Greatest Rapper of All Time is still as strong as the days he moved the crowds with his lyrical skill and wit. His posthumous efforts and cameo appearances on songs have many wondering what it would have been like if he was still around.

For many he will always be remembered for his charm and humour, well known for his ability to come up with lyrics and songs after hearing the ‘beat’ only once (he never wrote down the words of his songs), and for his generosity.

But unfortunately, he will be remembered by all for his “beef” with Tupac Shakur, a former friend turned foe who was also murdered in similar circumstances six months earlier. To date no one has been charged for their killings.

Considered a music legend the likes of James Brown, Ray Charles and Bob Marley, the life and music of the Notorious B.I.G will live on for generations to come.
