Fried Mozzarella Sticks
You will need:
1 pound Mozzarella Cheese
1/ 2 cup All-Purpose Flour
2 large Eggs, beaten
1 1/ 2 cups Italian Breadcrumbs
1/ 2 cup Plain Breadcrumbs
1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
1 teaspoon Dried Oregano
1/ 2 teaspoon Salt
1/ 4 teaspoon Black Pepper
Vegetable Oil, for frying
Method:
Slice mozzarella into sticks about 3 inches long. Pat dry. Set up three shallow bowls: flour in one, beaten eggs in another, and a breadcrumb mixture in the third (Italian and plain breadcrumbs, garlic powder, oregano, salt, pepper). Dredge each stick in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs. Repeat egg and breadcrumb steps for a second coating. Place breaded sticks on a tray and freeze for at least 1 hour. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry mozzarella sticks 4–5 at a time for 1–2 minutes, turning for even browning. Drain on a paper towel or wire rack. Let cool slightly and serve hot with your favourite dipping sauce.
