We had thought that your death
was a waste and a destruction
A pain of grief hardly to be endured
but after four years

we are now beginning to learn
that your life was a gift and a blessing
and a loving left with us.

The bitterness of death did not erase the existence of love.
And today we know that the fact of your death
did not destroy the gift we were given.

So, we are learning to look at your life again
Instead of your death and your departing
