Vigilante justice not the way to go, says Police Commissioner
Violence against someone is not justified because of that person’s past; and people who may feel aggrieved by a situation should always go to the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) for help.
“I want to appeal to perpetrators that, first of all, we do not engage in revenge killing…I want to appeal to persons who have been aggrieved not to take the law into their own hands, allow the police to complete the investigations and bring persons to justice…,” was the message from Commissioner of Police (COP) Enville Williams, while speaking at a press conference on April 1, 2026.
The COP was respond to a question on the murder of Sebastian “Bassy” John, an Ottley Hall man who was found dead in his community on March 25, 2026. About a day after his shooting death, a six second video began making the rounds on social media showing his execution.
The video shows the hands of two gunmen shooting into John’s body as he lay on the ground.
