Leacock tells reporters to grow up!
Some reporters and media workers have been told to stop trivializing what is important serious matters.
“…grow up…,” said the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Disaster Management and Immigration St. Clair Leacock during an interview in Barrouallie last week.
Leacock said that some members of the media had misconstrued and trivialized comments he made about giving officers attached to the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Cadet Force (SVGCF) powers to arrest criminal offenders.
Calling on journalists to be more responsible and mature in how they handle such issues, Leacock, a former Cadet officer made clear that he never said that all cadets should be given the power to arrest, however, some members of the media created “mischief” and reported it that way.
