Holy week plagued with crime, multiple suspects arrested
A shooting, a stabbing and a burglary at a church were just some of the social ills that kept members of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) busy over Holy Week.
The more serious incidents took place on Good Friday, April 3, 2026, when a pastor from Diamond answered a knock at his door around 4:00 a.m. and was shot in his right instep. He was taken to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH).
Later that day, 31-year-old bartender Xavaughn Dennie of Bequia was stabbed in the neck while asleep at his home. Reports indicate that he was attacked through an open window. No suspect has been identified and investigations are ongoing.
Police also reported that between March 29 and March 30, burglars broke into the Hope for Life Restoration Ministries Church in Arnos Vale, stealing cash and other items.
