Police facing theft charge also under investigation allegedly for attempted murder
A POLICE CONSTABLE, who has been charged with theft, is currently being investigated for attempted murder.
Phillip Arrindell of Layou appeared at the Serious Offences Court before Chief Magistrate Colin John, where he was charged that between March 16 and 19, 2026 between Kingstown and Calliaqua, he stole one black Suzuki vehicle key valued EC$1,500.00, the property of Jadiel Riffin of Villa.
Arrindell pleaded not guilty to the offence. However, Prosecutor Renrick Cato, objected to his bail and informed the court that Arrindell is a “person of interest” for attempted murder and possession of a firearm. The Prosecutor said that Arrindell may hinder or obstruct investigations if he is released on bail and requested that he be remanded into custody for one week.
