Barrouallie man charged in chopping death of Mont-I
A Barrouallie man is now on remand after he was charged with the chopping death of soca artiste and well-known social media personality, Mont-I.
Keon Dennie appeared at the Serious Offences Court before Chief Magistrate Colin John, on March 25, 2026 where he was charged that on March 23, 2026 at Barrouallie with malice aforethought caused the death of Monty “Mont-I” Thomas of Rose Hall by an unlawful act.
Dennie was not required to plea to the indictable charge that was laid against him, and he was remanded into custody.
The matter was adjourned to April 27, 2026 for a status report.
Shortly after the chopping incident on Monday, March 24, 2026 videos of the wounded man began making the rounds on social media showing Mont-I’s chop wounds, covered in blood, and writhing in pain on the ground. He was taken for medical attention but succumbed to his injuries.
