Assistant Police Commissioner warns about “romanticising disorder”
Adults across St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) have been urged to take early warning signs of bad behaviour in children seriously, warning that ignoring such signs can lead to far more serious consequences.
Speaking on the growing concerns around youth behaviour, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Trevor “Buju” Bailey, stressed that adults must stop assuming that troubling conduct will simply go away on its own.
“When warning signs appear, adults must stop hoping that it will disappear on their own. They seldom do, and often get worse,” the veteran police officer cautioned during a recent forum on school violence.
The senior officer made it clear that the issue of school violence goes far beyond any single institution, describing it as a national challenge that requires a coordinated response. He noted that youth misconduct is not just a school problem, nor solely the responsibility of the church, the police, or government ministries.
