Teachers Union launches broadside at Education Minister
THE LEADERSHIP OF the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Teachers Union launched a verbal broadside at Education Minister Phillip Jackson, during the SVGTU’s Teacher’s Talk evening programme on BOOM FM 106.9 on Sunday, March 22, 2026. The union’s newly-elected first vice-president Oswald Robinson, declared, “When you interfere with the teachers union and the workers in this country, we will show you our strength. If he wants to go down in the Guinness Book of Records as the shortest serving minister of education, it would happen in this country.”
Robinson, who has served as union president on seven occasions, did not mince words, adding “I’m warning you…we will tell our teachers what this government is considering”.
That he continued, would be “the first protest in this country, and we will mobilise the entire nation. You come in to beat up the very same teachers who vote for you and put you there”.
