Book on History of SVG now on CXC Syllabus
UNIVERSITY OFTHE West Indies (UWI) Lecturer, Dr. Henderson Carter has announced that volume one of the newly published book, ‘ St Vincent and the Grenadines: A General History to theYear 2025’ will be included in the Caribbean Examinations Council’s (CXC) curriculum.
The government of St Vincent commissioned the series and the first publication was launched in 2025. On Friday, March 20, 2026, the second publication in Volume One was launched before a packed house at The UWI Global Campus, Frenches.
Dr. Henderson, a lecturer in the Department of History and Philosophy at The UWI Cave Hill Campus, Barbados, led a round table discussion with the authors Dr. Adrian St Aubyn Fraser, Dr. Garrey Michael Dennie, and Dr. Cleve McDonald Scott, engaging the authors around the contents of the second publication called, ‘Native Peoples, Genocide and African Enslavement in St Vincent and the Grenadines, Circa BP 5000 to 1838.’
“I was particularly honoured to review the book over a year ago, and as a reviewer, I found the text a very exciting journey. I felt then, as I still feel now that the text is a significant political and economic asset,” Dr. Carter said.
