Deputy Prime Minister to request vehicles from Taiwan to assist NCCP
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Major St. Clair Leacock has stated an intention to seek additional support from the Government of Taiwan for a schools programme aimed at combating the scourge of violence.
Speaking at a national consultation on school violence on Tuesday, March 10,2026 under the theme “Safer Schools, Safer Communities”, the minister revealed that he plans to request three vehicles from Taiwan to assist in the work of the National Commission on Crime Prevention (NCCP).
The consultation was a joint initiative between the Ministry of National Security, the Ministry of Education, and the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF), and took place at the conference room of the National Insurance Services (NIS).
Speaking to attendees, the Minister of National Security emphasized the importance of equipping national institutions with the resources required.
“When I go to Taiwan, I will expressly ask the government and people of Taiwan to give us three vehicles for the NCCP,” the Minister stated, “one for the Leeward side, one for the country and one for headquarters.”
He said the vehicles would assist members of the National Commission on Crime Prevention in undertaking outreach programmes and other interventions designed to address crime. He noted that improved mobility would enable the commission to travel throughout the country and engage directly with communities, schools, and youth groups.
Deputy Prime Minister, Major Leacock, also used the opportunity to highlight broader operational needs within the country’s security services, particularly the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force.
