Opposition response to Budget weak and confused – PM Friday

PRIME MINISTER Dr. Godwin Friday said the opposition responded to the New Democratic Party’s (NDP) fiscal package saying that it is going to make people destitute but although the Unity Labour Party (ULP) painted a woeful picture, they did it with a sort of “glee”.

Last Friday February 13, 2026 the EC$1.9 Appropriation Bill was passed without the support of the opposition.

In his February 13, 2026, wrap up of the budget debate, the prime minister said when he listened to the presentations from his ministers, they demonstrated knowledge about their ministries but the opposition provided what he considers a disappointing response.
