Security Minister holds emergency meeting in response to weekend murders

THIS COUNTRY’S HOMICIDE count rose to five over the weekend with the deaths of Kevin “Masicka” Richards, 25, of Montaque, Marriaqua, and Lenford “Beanie Man” Peters, 43, of Richland Park.

Richards, a maintenance worker attached to the St Vincent Community College (SVCC) died from gunshot wounds sustained on Friday, February 6, 2026; while Peters, a labourer, died on Saturday, February 7, 2026, when he was attacked and shot.

Reports are that about 10:50 p.m. last Friday, Richards was in the company of friends in Montaque when he was shot. He was transported to the Levi Latham Health Centre for medical attention but died there.

Then at about 7:20 p.m. on Saturday, Peters was walking along the Diamond/ Brighton public road when he was accosted by a masked assailant and shot multiple times about his body. He died on the spot.
