Man who threatened to kill Massy employee placed on bond
A BELAIR MAN, who claimed that he was under the influence of alcohol when he pointed a knife at a Massy Stores employee, and threatened to “slash” her throat and “kill” her, was placed on a bond.
Akim Gaymes appeared at the Serious Offences Court before Chief Magistrate Colin John on February 2, 2026, where he pleaded guilty that on January 14, 2026 at Arnos Vale, did assault Joanne Samuel of Belmont with intent to commit an offence, to wit “Wounding”.
Samuel is a Loss Prevention Officer working at Massy Stores Arnos Vale, and some of her duties include regular patrols throughout the store, as well as regular observations within the store. On the date in question at about 5:16 pm, Samuel was on duty at the supermarket.
