Dr Gonsalves dissects $1.9 billion Budget Estimates of the NDP administration

OPPOSITION LEADER Dr Ralph Gonsalves has concluded that the EC$1.9 billion Estimates presented in Parliament by Minister of Finance Dr. Godwin Friday, yesterday, January 29, 2026 provides “for little to no growth” and has a lot of words but did not get the Arithmetic.

Making his contribution on the 2026 Estimates in Parliament, Dr. Gonsalves said the projections contains “egregious errors” and warned that the New Democratic Party administration may soon have to head to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for financial bail-out.

“I am telling you, as sure as the sun rises, you are on a path to the IMF.”

Based on Dr Gonsalves’ predictions, the new administration will also encounter “problems paying salaries on a monthly basis, and taking care of important bills.”
