Workers frustrating resumption of Covid-dismissed workers, says PM
SOME GOVERNMENT workers are making it hard for people who were fired under the COVID-19 vaccine mandate to return to work, and this is unacceptable, Prime Minister Dr. Godwin Friday has said.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, January 23, 2026 Dr. Friday said the government’s policy states that workers who were dismissed under the COVID-19 vaccine mandate have until January, 30 to return to work, but despite this policy, some workers who reported back to work were told by senior staff that there were no positions at their former places of work that they could take up.
The prime minister said when his New Democratic Party (NDP), was in opposition, their position was it was not the right decision to dismiss workers in those conditions as it created hardship and it was unjust.
