Venezuelan Ambassador gravely concerned about safety of the region
AMBASSADOR of Venezuela to St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), Perez Santana, has expressed grave concern about the safety of the region following the US military incursion into Venezuela early on Saturday, January, 3 2026.
Ambassador Santana expressed his fears on Sunday, January, 4 2026 while speaking as a guest on WE FM’s ‘Issue at Hand’ programme.
On January 3, 2026 US military forces went into Venezuela, snatched President Nicholas Maduro and his wife from their beds, and removed them from the country.
Based on the US military action on Saturday, and the presence of hundreds of troops and military hardware in the region off Venezuela for several months in 2025, Ambassador Perez said he was fearful “about what could happen now in the region of the Caribbean and in Latin America”.
The Venezuelan diplomat argued that what US President Donald Trump did in Venezuela, he could do to St Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados, or any other neighbouring state, or any other country in the world.
