ULP did not plan to send home housing workers – Dr Ralph Gonsalves
THE 180 WORKERS and housing assessors who were dismissed at the end of 2025 from the Reconstruction/ Rehabilitation Programme that was being run by the then Ministry of Housing had nothing to do with political victimization, a senior housing official has said.
Last week it was reported that the housing assessors who worked within the Ministry of Housing, headed then by former Minister of Housing Dr. Orando Brewster, had their contracts terminated as of December, 31 2025.
The workers received their termination letters from the new Minister of Housing, Andrew John, who is the member of parliament for South Windward. The housing official told SEARCHLIGHT that the workers, who were attached to the post-Hurricane Beryl reconstruction programme, knew their contracts would end on December, 31 2025, and were told about the termination long in advance of the change of government which took place on November, 27 2025.
