Dr. Gonsalves expects privileges, courtesies as ex-PM
FORMER PRIME MINISTER, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves says he is expecting that as a former prime minister, he will be accorded “all the usual courtesies and privileges attendant upon the former holders of this high office”.
On Saturday November 29, two days after the New Democratic Party (NDP) won 14 of the 15 constituencies in general elections here, Dr. Gonsalves spoke on the Unity Labour Party’s Star Radio where, among other things, he pointed to his many years of service to St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), and noted that the practice of civilized nations speaks to several courtesies and privileges that he should receive.
“…any derogation therefrom will be brought to the attention of the national, regional and international communities for corrective action,” Dr. Gonsalves told listeners, while not specifying the privileges and courtesies he was expecting to receive.
