Dr Gonsalves intends to lead a firm opposition
FORMER PRIME MINISTER, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves on Saturday, November 29, 2025 during his first public statement since losing the November 27, general elections, conceded defeat and vowed to lead a firm opposition.
“I congratulate the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines, including those who supervised and managed the electoral process and the relevant democratic state institutions for their continued commitment to popular democracy,” the former prime minister stated.
“We in the Unity Labour Party are not among those who insist that democracy only works when we win and cry foul when we lose,” he said in not too veiled reference to the victorious New Democratic Party, which has cried foul when they lost previous general elections.
