NDP promises better life for Vincentians from Day-One
THE New Democratic Party (NDP) is promising that from their very first day in office, they will begin to create a better life for all of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). This promise was made by party leader, Dr Godwin Friday, as he spoke at the launch of the NDP manifesto and thanksgiving rally on Thursday, November 20,2025.
Dr Friday is promising that after the general elections Thursday, November 27 , 2025 general elections “ no longer will the people of this country, especially the young people, be waiting for a future that never comes”.
The manifesto outlines the party’s priorities if given the opportunity to govern St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Among these priorities are plans to “eliminate entirely” all fees attached to attending the SVG Community College (SVGCC). He said the NDP will also abolish all secondary school fees and payment by the students for stationery materials at their various schools.
In presenting the manifesto at the event in Barrouallie, Dr Friday said “affordability should never be an obstacle in this country for our young people to access education”.
If elected, the NDP also plans to follow through on promises to pay for the CSEC and CAPE subjects for students in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Also outlined in the manifesto the NDP also plans to establish a technical and vocational centre of excellence in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
He said this centre of excellence will deliver quality education for the young people.
“It will not be a two-tiered system where you have one here and one there.”
The NDP is also promising to invest in critical infrastructure by fixing roads, bridges, jetties, public buildings and the likes and also to deliver more opportunities for the young people.
Additionally, it promises to be “a government of accountability and transparency”.
“You can hold us to account… we will tell it like it is.”
A constituency development fund to assist members of parliament to implement projects in their constituencies to lessen reliance on central government, is also in the document.
Commenting on the plans in the Manifesto, Dr Friday said “I know these things are going to make life easier for our people”.
The party also intends to make several changes if elected to office.
Dr Friday however told the large gathering at Barrouallie that “ things will not change until we change things.”
