CARICOM Elections Observer Mission on the ground in SVG
A 10-MEMBER Caricom Elections Observer Mission (CEOM), headed by Commissioner of Guyana Elections Sase R. Gunraj is in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) to observe the November 27, 2025 general elections.
Last Friday, November 21, 2025 one day after their arrival in the country Gunraj and Programme Manager, Community Relations at the CARICOM Secretariat, Shae-Alicia Lewis, met with members at the media at Myah Suites where they discussed the 2025 general elections campaign after which a statement was issued. The remaining members of the observation team arrived on November 23.
It was noted that the CEOM was deployed in response to an invitation extended by the Government of SVG, in a letter dated October, 2, 2025.The CEOM leaves on November 29, 2025, two days after the conclusion of the elections. Prior to their departure a preliminary statement will be issued, outlining the Mission’s initial assessment of the electoral process. A detailed Final Report providing a summary of the Mission’s comprehensive findings and recommendations will subsequently be prepared. This Report will be submitted to Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community, Dr. Carla Barnett, then it will be made public.
The Mission comprises senior electoral and other officials from seven CARICOM Member States, as well as three members of the CARICOM Secretariat, who are providing administrative and logistical support.

MP, Speaker of the House of Assembly (Barbados); Anthea Joseph, Chief Elections Officer, Electoral Commission (Dominica); Karina Nicola Thomas, Systems Administrator, Parliamentary Elections Office (Grenada); Dorinnie Irma, Member of the Independent Electoral Council (Suriname); and Gillian Macintyre, chair of the Human Resource sub-committee, Elections and Boundaries Commission (Trinidad and Tobago).
