Public Service Union endorses NDP
THE PUBLIC SERVICE UNION (PSU), has endorsed the New Democratic Party (NDP) for the upcoming general elections on Thursday, November 27, 2025. The announcement was made on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at a joint news conference involving the President of the New Democratic Party, Dr Godwin Friday, and the President of the PSU, Elroy Boucher, when both organizations signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).
Boucher said the agreement is “a document that puts the welfare and dignity of workers, front and center in our national development”. He stressed that the agreement is not about politics but about the people in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), restoring dignity, and being given the fairness that they deserve.
“Today through this agreement that we are about to sign, we have a firm commitment from the NDP, from Dr Friday and his team, that every worker whether pensionable or non- pensionable will have access to a fair and secure pension”, he stated. Boucher highlighted that another key part of the MOA is that the process of collective bargaining will be allowed. He said the Unity Labour Party (ULP) administration has repeatedly denied the collective bargaining within the public service. The document also contains a proposal for negotiations between trade unions and the government. Boucher spoke on the issue of the cost of living and criticized several other actions of the ULP administration. Speaking about the “draconian [Covid-19]mandate”, he said that the repeal of the amendment is an important decision because “it restores the right of all Vincentians to bodily integrity”.
