Monday, is Nomination Day in SVG
Candidates who will be contesting the November 27, 2025 general elections in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), will hand in their nomination papers on Monday, November 10, 2025.
The Unity Labour Party (ULP), and the New Democratic Party (NDP)will each field candidates in all 15 constituencies.
Nomination Day will
also reveal if individuals who have expressed an intention to run outside the fold of the two main parties, will go through with their plan.
The requirements are that each candidate’s nomination form must be signed by six or more electors who qualify to vote in the particular constituency in which the candidate is seeking to be elected.
The Registering Officer in each of the 15 constituencies will receive the completed nomination form from each candidate who must also make a $500 deposit. The nomination period runs from 9:00 a.m to noon.
The nomination process, once successfully completed, can be regarded as major step number two in the process leading to the pronouncement of the voters in each constituency for candidate and ultimately, party; but it also has its lighter moments. The common scene is that as candidates make the journey to the place of registration, each is surrounded by an enthusiastic group of constituency supporters in high spirits.
These are the places in the various constituencies where the nomination will take place: North Windward- the Sandy Bay Police Station; North Central Windward- the Georgetown Police Station; South Central Windward- the Sans Souci Learning Resource Centre; South Windward- the Biabou Police Station; Marriaqua- the Mesopotamia Police Station; East St George- the Calliaqua Town Hall; West St George- the Belair Police Training School; East Kingstown- the CW Prescod Primary School; Central Kingstown- the Girl Guides Headquarters; West Kingstown- the Kingstown Government School; South Leeward- the Questelles Police Station; Central Leeward- the Layou Police Station; North Leeward- the Chateaubelair Police Station; the Northern Grenadines- the Port Elizabeth Police Station; and the Southern Grenadines- the Tobago Cays Marine Park Office.
