Dr Friday spells out promises once NDP elected
Two VAT-free (Value Added Tax) shopping days; a one-time 50 percent concession on vehicle duties for public servants with 10 or more years of service; duty-free concessions of up to $20,000 on film and digital equipment; $500 for mothers at childbirth; maternity leave extension from three to six months. These are among the promises of the New Democratic Party (NDP) once elected, and announced by party leader, Dr. Godwin Friday.
Speaking on Hot 97.1 FM’s AM Mayhem morning programme yesterday, Monday, November 3, 2025 Dr. Friday said these initiatives are aimed at helping with the cost-of-living crisis that exists in the country.
“These are not empty promises. They are practical measures to give people real breathing space, recognize hard work, and invest in the well being of our families and communities,” said Dr. Friday who noted that his stint in opposition politics which spans over 20 years is something he takes seriously. Vincentians go to the polls on November 27, 2025 to elect a party to take the reigns of governance for the next five years.
