Thief says prison is not for people like him
A young man convicted as a thief has told a Senior Magistrate that if he is sent to prison, he may be influenced to commit other types of crimes as thieves are not separated by from other criminals who commit more serious offences.
Kyjuan Prince, 23, appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate Tammika McKenzie, on October 28, 2025 where he was found guilty of theft.
Prince was charged that on January 31, 2025 in Kingstown, he stole one Calvin Klein Cologne of unknown value; one pair of prescription glasses of unknown value; one DL9 Digicel cellphone valued EC$130.00; and EC$40.00 in cash the property of Jerry Lewis of Golden Vale.
The prosecution’s case was that while Lewis was walking in Kingstown, Prince, approached him and patted him down, stealing the listed items from his bag.
