600 Graduate from Community College Continuing Education Programme
The Centre for General and Continuing Education (CGCE) continues to help people up their game in various fields while providing an opportunity for interested persons to become trained and certified.
This was highlighted last Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at the Villa campus of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC) when the CGCE hosted a certificate recognition ceremony.
Held at the lecture theatre, the ceremony celebrated the achievements of over 600 Vincentians who successfully completed programmes under the CGCE.
The event, held under the theme “Pathways to Possibilities: Creating Opportunities and Shaping Bright Futures,” highlighted the CGCE’s mandate to expand access to tertiary-level education and lifelong learning.
Acting Head of the CGCE, Denisha Hector-Quashie, noted that the CGCE started in January, 2024 with two employees in the conference room of the lecturer’s lounge with a mission to provide increased access to tertiary level education, and to provide opportunities for economic empowerment.
She said the mandate was interpreted as redefining the short course offerings of the SVCC, not just in quantity, but in quality.
“The Centre for General and Continuing Education, as can be seen here today, through our lifelong learning mandate, created new possibilities for the Vincentian community.
“We delivered 24 professional short courses across three cycles. These 24 courses unlocked a new era of access at the SVGCC, as our courses now have no academic entry requirements,” Hector-Quashie explained.
