Union Island man heaps praise on Education Revolution
The attention paid to education, housing, and the plight of the less fortunate in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) have been identified among the reasons a man, who said he was a staunch supporter of the New Democratic Party (NDP) switching allegiance to the Unity Labour Party (ULP).
Rodwell “Prophet” Stewart also known as “Radix”, speaking at the opening of the ULP’s Chevonne Stewart’s constituency office in Union Island on Saturday, September, 20,2025 said, in the past he has campaigned for incumbent Southern Grenadines representative, Terrance Ollivierre of the NDP, but he has never received any recognition or even a thank you for his many contributions to the party.
“I openly supported the NDP. I used my sound system to help campaign and I never was paid. I wasn’t looking for funds, but never even a thank you,” Stewart said while delivering remarks at the opening of the ULP candidate’s office.
He said he was once among the youngest members of the NDP support team in the Southern Grenadines, “and they never gave me a listening ear much less to hit a podium.
“…not [many] people outspoken as I am and they (NDP) recognized that and they meet me in the road and say ‘good job’ but never gave me a chance,” Stewart, the ULP constituency office manager and ULP Youth Arm President said.
He added that when Hurricane Beryl struck on July 1, 2024, he lost his auto marine store and other assets and he has seen what the ULP administration has done and is doing for the Southern Grenadines.
“…and a lot of people getting help,” he said of the recovery effort.
