Jobs expanding because of Tourism – Minister of Finance
In 2000 data from the National Insurance Services (NIS) showed that 2,500 people were employed in the accommodation sector, a number that in 2025, has moved to 6,000 employees in the hospitality sector.
“…and that means that the sector has grown in terms of job creation by 140%,” Minister of Finance, Camillo Gonsalves said on Monday, September 15, 2025.
He was speaking at the ‘State of the Tourism Industry Address and Stakeholder’s Conference’ at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown, which was held under the theme, “Strength in Unity: Advancing the Vincentian Visitor’s Experience”.
Gonsalves said that in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), the rebound of the tourism sector has been “marvellous” as we are coming off issues created by COVID-19, the volcanic eruptions, and Hurricane Beryl.
